If I didn't live offline I wouldn't buy this radio. This is the best for listening to battery powered radio only. The weather channel is also very useful. Excellent localized information. 3 double A batteries even work for a while. The grip is probably only good if you were lost and penniless. The solar panel works in full sun. This is where I lose respect for this product: it's meant to fall and break. It's hard with a weak cheap antenna. If the antenna breaks, you're left with a radio that doesn't work either. At this point I tear off the binding wire for a makeshift antenna. I have bought 6 of these in 3 years. Also this radio is the best I have found for offline living. However, as I said earlier, radios are designed to fall and break. This is guaranteed to happen to anyone who actually uses this radio.
