I used this adapter for my 2020 Macbook Pro as an external display and charging station. I let the screen go off after 10 minutes but came back after about 30 minutes to find my computer was no longer connecting to the monitor. I thought it might be an HDMI cable so I replaced the original cable with one that I knew worked and it still didn't connect. Then I changed the adapter, went back to the old cable and voila, everything worked. This item was pretty cheap I think you get what you pay for.
