A few reviews stated that the two metal arms are sharp and that it's possible to cut yourself touching them. I measured the thickness with a micrometer. The thickness is: 0.047" - 1.18mm. The arms are not thin and barely flexible. Perhaps they were referring to the 90° corners along the edges. If so, very fine sandpaper would quickly resolve the issue. The top surfaces of the two arms are etched with very fine lines marking inches in increments of 32nds and centimeters in increments of milimeters. When the two arms are extended in a 180° straight line, each arm consists of 7" rulers with 0" starting 0.7" right and left of the center and measuring out 7" to the right and left. The metric scale, on the other hand, starts with 0mm flush with the left end and continues uninterrupted to 40cm/400mm to the right end.I don't have a way of calibrating the measurement of angles. However, it's important to understand how the tool functions. It considers the positions of the arms to each other when it is switched on as 0°. So in normal usage, make sure that both arms are exactly aligned over each other before switching it on.
