.497 pneumatic hammers are much better than standard sized hammers. However, the choice of bits is minimal and they are expensive. I have used this adapter with a Mayhews long chisel and it worked well with no signs of wear or cracking. I've done a normalizing heat treatment and always used an anti-seize agent.
