Sweet potato chip heaven!

I spent a lot of time researching mandoline slicers before purchasing this one. Love it! I wanted one specifically for making sweet potato chips in a dehydrator and most of them under $100 sounded like they had trouble making even cuts. My first sweet potato came in all sorts of crescent shapes and thicknesses. I was wondering if I had bought a planer that was mediocre and no better but a little faster than a knife for multiple cuts. Then magic happened during my second potato and I found pressure (light) and speed that worked to give a complete circle, even chips. I was so excited that I grabbed a third potato and quickly peeled it off to do it again. So I was glad I was wearing cut-resistant gloves, otherwise I would definitely bleed tonight. What made the biggest difference for me in getting even cuts was placing the slicer over the casing and keeping it almost level. Something in the corner made me squeeze and angle the blade properly, and then the magic happened. Very happy with this purchase and especially for choosing a mandolin with shell groove. If you're looking for something to cut tougher root vegetables with, this is a great choice. Easy to store, big enough for all needs and well worth the price.
