Good bang for the buck ! These are a little high in SWR for the Amateur 2 meter band, but for MURS and commercial in the 2 meter band, they will work great; here you are looking at usable resonance from 152 Mhz to 178 Mhz. There is some 1-1/4 meter band resonance but too low in resonant frequency for Amateur or commercial; from 200 Mhz to 215 Mhz! The Amateur 70 centimeter band is doable from 420 Mhz to 445 Mhz and maybe doable up to 450 Mhz. However FRS/GMRS frequencies have way too high an SWR to be usable with this antenna; if you do use this antenna for this, then, proceed with caution! I have done radio work since 1975, and most handheld radios will tolerate a 3.0 SWR, some cheap ones will not, so be cautious going above 3.0 SWR. These HYS-771N are dual band, and I love the Sturdy BNC connectors, and overall they seem to be well built. For those desiring more information, I have posted my average, from three of these antennas, for resonant frequency vs. SWR. These antennas are incredibly repeatable, on the three that I checked out, for resonant frequency vs. SWR; so this tells me that they have been carefully cut and put together, and the differential between them was only about 1.3%So in a nutshell these would be good for the Amateur 2 m band, the commercial 2m band, the MURS 2 m band and most of the Amateur 70 centimeter band.I used a Yaesu YS-500 SWR and Power meter good for 140 Mhz to 525 Mhz.======================2m Band======================136.000 Mhz => infinity SWR140.000 Mhz => 5.00 SWR144.000 Mhz => 3.50 SWR146.000 Mhz => 4.00 SWR148.000 Mhz => 3.80 SWR150.000 Mhz => 3.40 SWR => Low End of the Usable Band152.000 Mhz => 3.10 SWR154.000 Mhz => 2.90 SWR156.000 Mhz => 2.90 SWR158.000 Mhz => 2.15 SWR160.000 Mhz => 1.90 SWR165.000 Mhz => 1.70 SWR170.000 Mhz => 1.50 SWR175.000 Mhz => 1.15 SWR178.000 Mhz => 1.05 SWR => High End of the Usable Band======================1 1/4m Band======================200.000 Mhz => 2.25 SWR => Low End of the Usable Band205.000 Mhz => 3.60 SWR210.000 Mhz => 3.50 SWR215.000 Mhz => 3.00 SWR => Center of the Band216.000 Mhz => 3.80 SWR => High End of the Usable Band217.000 Mhz => 4.20 SWR218.000 Mhz => 5.00 SWR219.000 Mhz => 7.50 SWR220.000 Mhz => 9.50 SWR225.000 Mhz => 11.0 SWR230.000 Mhz => 12.0 SWR235.000 Mhz => 12.0 SWR240.000 Mhz => 12.0 SWR245.000 Mhz => 10.0 SWR250.000 Mhz => 11.0 SWR255.000 Mhz => 12.0 SWR260.000 Mhz => 35.0 SWR======================70cm Band======================400.000 Mhz => 2.60 SWR => Low End of the Usable Band410.000 Mhz => 2.00 SWR420.000 Mhz => 1.50 SWR425.000 Mhz => 1.30 SWR => Center of the Band430.000 Mhz => 1.40 SWR435.000 Mhz => 1.80 SWR440.000 Mhz => 2.25 SWR445.000 Mhz => 2.90 SWR => Technical High End of usable band450.000 Mhz => 4.00 SWR460.000 Mhz => 5.10 SWR462.500 Mhz => 5.10 SWR => FRS/GMRS - - proceed with caution ?465.000 Mhz => 4.50 SWR467.500 Mhz => 4.00 SWR => FRS/GMRS - - proceed with caution ?470.000 Mhz => 3.60 SWR480.000 Mhz => 3.30 SWR490.000 Mhz => 8.00 SWR500.000 Mhz => 11.0 SWR
