Decent scratching post for the price and size but larger than expected (72in instead of 62in)

Okay firstly when assembled as in the picture it is larger than 62in. It's about 6 feet (72 inches). But that's a plus when you look at the prices of larger scratching posts. Second, yes, it's chipboard. But it's a scratching post for less than a hundred dollars. You don't buy one of these don't expect old oak. A medium-sized cat can take it well. Although the cabinet is only suitable for a small cat or kitten to lie comfortably in it. Although our fat man is still trying to squeeze in. Okay if you assemble it as shown here and following the instructions the top tier is quite wobbly and unstable for larger cats. Also quite difficult to access because of the high walls. Luckily you have options. I changed the paw shaped platform and walled bed We have a ledge around the wall of our house so they can walk over it to get there or just flop on their stomachs and pull up to take over each other. As for the rocking, I used some sturdy large zip ties and attached them to the wall in a couple of places so they were pretty stable. But if that's not an option, you can always place the top platform where the toy is and put the toy on top. That's not my idea, I'm just repeating a few others here. Faux fur is exactly what you need. Don't expect real mink or rabbit fur for the price. It's soft and our cats love to curl up and snuggle in it. I even caught one of them sucking and kneading when he thought nobody was looking. The carpet wrapped around the pillars is fine. Ours prefer to scrape rope-wrapped poles, but they're starting to use a little carpet. One of the good things about this tree is that it takes up little floor space. I mean anyone who has bought or bought scratching posts knows they can be huge as hell. but it's smaller than 2' x 2' which is great for those who are short on space. Overall this is a decent scratching post for the price. It's not the best I've had, but it's not the worst either. If you don't mind making a little extra buildup to secure a tall tower or change the build location, then this is a good wood for a small space.
