I was looking for a waterproof shockproof camera to use on vacation and for myself as I'm a bit clumsy. However, I didn't want to spend money if I was going to get a camera that couldn't be used for normal everyday use with friends, family, pets, etc. I was very concerned that this was even possible as I read reviews on other cameras and there were many mentions of degraded image quality. I've read great reviews of the Canon d10 but the camera was a little bulky when I saw it in person for a camera I wanted to carry around with me everywhere or carry in my pocket or purse. I decided to pay extra money for this camera and I'm glad I did. Pictures are great over water and HD videos are crisp. Even my brother commented that the photos looked really great when I used the camera at a family party. I've also used this camera at the beach (California waters are a little murky for clear shots) and filmed my brother swimming (so he can see what he has to work on). The camera worked great above and below water and the video looks clean. Underwater photos don't look 100% sharp like above water photos but to be honest if I showed the photo to someone they would never notice. One comment I noticed in other reviews was that the buttons were a bit small or crowded, but I didn't have a major issue with that. I have a green camera. It's a nice shade of green, nothing flashy, but not boring either.
