Review on πŸ’» IOGEAR GUS402 Peripheral Sharing Switch: 2 Computers, 4-Port USB 2.0 Efficiency by Brian Motley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Extremely finicky then stopped working

I have had this switch for a few months and it has never worked properly. The first thing I noticed was how slow it shifts. Switching between computers can take more than 5 seconds. Much slower than I expected. But the main thing is that this thing is so fragile that it cannot be made to work and continue to function. For example, I often only have one computer connected (I connect the second one half the time). It often gets stuck on the wrong exit and the shift key doesn't work. To do this, I have to connect my second computer to turn on the switch and then turn it off again. Extremely unpleasant. Recently the switch decided to stop working and when I turn on the computer the lights just blink. I looked it up and it says it's because "downstream ports are over 10W". I have no idea why it just happened randomly. Save yourself time and hassle.

Pros
  • Molded cable design makes it easy to connect
Cons
  • Compatibility
