I needed to upgrade my nearfield studio monitors/office speakers. After several tests I decided on the Monitor SE Atoms. IMPRESSIVE. Using a Topping PA3 as an amp and my Audient ID14 Studio DAC, I've been a bit blind for most of my life and someone just gave me corrective lenses. The dynamics and distance I now hear in mixes is not what I expected at all. Another thing is that the low volume performance is an absolute delight. You don't have to bang your eardrums to get satisfactory sound out of them, especially when used as nearfield monitors. Bottom line: If you value high-fidelity sound and don't want to spend thousands, you can buy a pair of headphones. that, a class-D amp and a DAC, and be really happy for less than $500.
