Review on WB44K10005 CH44K10005 Hotpoint Kenmore Element by Brian Hrdlicka

When delivered, the baking element has an irregular shape, a curve. We considered returning it but ultimately decided to give it a try given the cheap price from this supplier and the desire to actually cook in the oven after a few weeks when it failed. I had to carefully bend it back into shape to fit the bottom of the oven. Doesn't look as good as the original and certainly not like the photo in the ad. But we've been using it for 5 days and it seems to be working. I hope that the need to change its shape has not compromised the integrity and durability of the heating element. (Originally reviewed April 2014.) Update June 2017 - The element has been working fine until today - when it literally hissed, shorted and blew. Outside. I don't know if the change in shape three years ago is related to this (I don't have a photo from then to compare and I don't remember what had to be bent where). But for the price it lasted over 3 years so it's not too bad.
