I have used my boss' Panduit version almost every day for years. It is necessary. But when I went shopping, oops! This tool costs less than 1/4 the price and works the same way. I used it for the first time last night and it worked flawlessly on about two dozen ties. I can only hope it lasts. If you're a pro and use ties every day or don't even think about spending $300 on a hand tool, don't even think about buying Panduit. But if the price puts you off, give it a try. It has a very nice firm feel and does what you want which is flush cut ties. That's the whole point. You can easily tighten the tie by hand or with pliers and cut it off with a cutter, but it can (and usually does) leave a sharp end that can give you or someone else a very nasty cut. You can trim the ends flush with a utility knife if you're careful, but doing so can result in a lot of blood and broken wires. You need this tool. PS: There are many tools out there that should do basically the same thing as this one and most of them are a lot cheaper but make sure they trim the tie flush every time before you buy. Time. If they don't, don't waste your money on it.
