Works better than expected.

We bought this for our restaurant. For years we have been looking for an alternative to our Berkel grinder, which we use to thinly slice onions (both yellow and green) and especially iceberg lettuce. The Berkel Meat Grinder is really dangerous and almost unsafe if you're not careful. Don't get me wrong, this works for meat but not for veggies. Berkel also made a lot of leftovers that we ended up having to trim by hand. We also tried using our robotic coupe, but it damaged the iceberg a bit and created a watery mess. our options down to this slicer or slicer adapter for our large 20 liter blender. The 20 liter faucet was much better built (and probably would have done the same), but cost three times as much. Without high hopes and trusting Amz's excellent return policy, we decided to try this machine. Exceeded expectations, works pretty well and definitely paid for itself multiple times within the first month of use. Pros: Inexpensive Quick to set up and take down Easy to use Easy to clean Super thin slices Hand cut handle in case the power goes out or you want to work out your forearms :) No rust Blade is really sharp Adjustable blade thickness Minimal product waste. We were able to cut end to end including whole giant yellow and white onions. Spring onions work great too and the iceberg didn't get mushy or soft. Cons: Looks and feels a bit flimsy (still holds up). Parts can be sanded well around sharp edges to avoid accidental cuts. The edges feel very sharp and rough, and we're not talking about a blade here. The pieces could have been bent to fit better without the need for fittings. Doesn't look like it's UL or NSF (could get that easily but I guess the company didn't spend money on certifications). ** The push rod spring was very strong, so I disassembled and removed the loaded spring (it's easy and safe). I prefer manual dive power to have better control. *** Next mod I would do if I have time is sanding and rounding off the sharp edges on the plate cover. I hope you have a good use of this device!

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Exchange possible
