A pound pack of Nuttah Buttah biscuits fits in one of these jars, leaving a bit more room (see photo). This is my use of these glasses. I use them as cookie jars. Because some biscuit manufacturers have not yet jumped on the reusable bag train. I felt the lids fit tight enough to keep the cookies fresh for enough weeks. If I were to say that the lid seals, one could complain that it is technically leaky. The lids are made of some kind of metal-like plastic. The caps twist clockwise to tighten and counterclockwise to loosen. According to the instructions, the covers should be hand washed. Other owners report that the metal coating is peeling off. Since I don't intend to use caps as pucks in regular hockey, I don't see any problems. The glass portion of the jar appears to be dishwasher safe because I've run them in the dishwasher and they're fine.
