First I tried to follow the instructions to set the date and time. When I pressed [Settings] it said "2003" and it was told to press the [Up] or [Down] key to change the date. When I clicked up, instead of the date, I got the word END. I didn't really bother with the date and time so I just plugged it in and pressed the green button (which you press when you want to make a call) and there was no dial tone. However, I left it on for a while and then when I tried to make a call from my cordless phone I got a busy signal instead of a dial tone so the unit picked up but just didn't ring. beep. So I turned it off to put the phones back in order. That sucks! So I returned it for a refund. It's actually smaller than I thought.
