Review on Uniden R1 Extreme Detector Degree by Phil Casey

I've sworn by Bel or Passport/Escort detectors for 25 years. 20 years ago, a Uniden radar detector was as effective as a donut on a dashboard. My Passport X-70 was a few years old and I figured it was time for a new metal detector. I went through the detector reports and everyone was talking about the Bel Redline killer. New range of scanners Uniden, R1 and R3. After some research, it turned out that Uniden hit the ball with these units. I chose the R1 because I have a factory programmed GPS and speed camera for red lights. After driving down I-90 in upstate New York I can tell you this detector works! It's crazy in the Ka group! I got a slight warning from the NYSP about a few miles with the Ka on. K-band detection is also better than any of my previous detectors. Love the fact that it updates firmware! Uniden does an excellent job with support and firmware updates. The best thing was the price. There is nothing in this price range that even comes close to the performance of this device. This device works right up there with $500+ devices. It actually HEATS them most of the time. Another nice thing was that I had connected my Bel Passport/Detector many years ago and was able to use the same cable! No reinstallation. I am very happy with my purchase.
