Review on Mcbazel Wii Connector Supports Display Nintendo by Elvis Kimbro

Garbage. Find the best

When the original Nintendo Wii came out in 2006, the HDMI standard was about 4 years old. Its main competitors Xbox 360 (after 2007) and Playstation 3 (at release) supported outputting HD video at 720p or higher. Realizing that HDTV was still a luxury item for many consumers, Nintendo decided to limit the console to 480p and use component or composite cables. They concluded that their target audience would be families with older tube CRT TVs and smaller gaming budgets. The Wii sold cheaper than the big boys and sold like hot cakes. Fast forward 14 years and almost nobody else has a CRT TV unless they are cave dwellers, can't figure out how to get rid of him or use him for retro games. Modern LED TVs are increasingly moving away from outdated standards like composite and component that would have allowed the Wii to work with them. Chances are the new TV you buy today won't work with your 14 year old Wii. This is where products like the McBazel Wii HDMI Converter come into play. It connects to the Wii's AV port and uses the HDMI port and stereo AV. Connection for outputting video and sound to modern televisions. And it's really cheap! Anyway, what about this converter? First of all, the image is not filtered or scaled. It simply takes the digital output and converts it to an HDMI signal. Sound is transmitted via an HDMI cable or, if required, via the device's stereo AV connection. Easy enough. The problem, for me at least, is that it does a terrible job. Really terrible. I used a component to HDMI converter with original Wii cables to upconvert the Wii and it easily wrecked the thing without even meaning to. Seriously, from the jagged image at the top of the screen to the lines of artifacts along the edges and the blurry image, the output looks awful on many levels. At first I thought it was the gaming monitor I tested it on, the MSI Optix. But then I tried it on a much cheaper elementary TV. It was just as bad. The seller, McBazel, is As far as I could tell from doing some research, a Chinese company specializing in various gaming peripherals and accessories. Some of their products appear to be rebranded products used by many other brands as well. In fact, if you check out the Wii HDMI converter on Revain, you will find dozens of listings of the same product, in the same form factor, in different colors and at different prices, all made by the same company. . And I have no doubt that they are all as lousy as this adapter. Bottom line for me is that this adapter is almost useless. It looks awful, has a choppy picture, and occasionally shows artifacts on the sides of the screen. Don't waste your money. Look for other upconverting options like component to HDMI converters, which cost a bit more but work much better and can be used with other devices.
