2 design issues that are important to me but might be acceptable to others

The VM312-2 has a few issues that make it less than fully useful to me. First, while the baby unit (camera) comes with a hanging bracket built into the back so it can be hung on a wall, the camera unit part is too heavy to stay in place and will fall off. The only way to fix this is to mount hardware on the wall to constrain the camera. In my case, I stretched a thin wire across the camera and attached it to the wall on each side of the device; This keeps the camera in position while looking across the room. This doesn't seem to be a problem when the baby unit is on a table and tilted slightly forward. In my case, this solution didn't pose a visual problem, but in a beautifully designed children's room, you might not want your wall to be ruined in this way. Secondly, the parent unit can relay the wireless signal from the baby unit if it is too far away or if there are walls or other objects between them that absorb the signal (e.g. trees). If the signal is lost, the parent unit will emit a loud beep every few seconds until the signal is restored. It's very annoying when it happens in the middle of the night. I asked if there was a way to turn off the signal and was told there wasn't. In my case, the distance between the blocks is about 200 feet and three walls. Product literature warns that bulkheads can be a problem. Let them know that 200 feet is the three-wall limit. I don't see the need for a beep as this puts an icon on the screen so you can see the alarm has been reset. This beep sounds even if the microphone is muted using the available buttons. A VERY annoying feature. I should also note that the parent block is very light and can easily be accidentally knocked off the table. In addition, our device works perfectly. We turn it off at night and turn it on from time to time just for a quick check. Kind of a compromise.
