finished part of the installation in an hour. Then it took me almost half an hour to register the printer. I keep getting messages that my password doesn't match. and then I had to go back and reset the password. then I had to go back a third time to reset my password and, wow, they let me continue. I didn't have too much trouble finding the serial number, and luckily I had a small flashlight, paper, and a pen. Letters and numbers are too small brother if you read this. my eyesight is fine (I need to change my glasses which is slowing me down) but for those with bad eyesight: good luck. I read that you can get a serial number online but nobody bothered to say how. The file I printed out looked fantastic. The speed is a bit faster than my last printer, in my opinion (but this is the fourth printer I've had this year, so maybe I'm a bit cranky?) Haven't tried color printing yet. Basically I need b/w and speed is not a big deal. Now for copying. shish. you have to go through a few ?s about the type of printing, etc., then the same ?s appear again, just like with my last printer. So you have to go ahead and press the start button. If you need to copy multiple items, you'd better prepare them, otherwise the system will return to the first page. Also, I found the placement of the paper odd. He cut off the top edge of each page. Luckily there wasn't anything to copy at the bottom so I copied everything but something on the paper guide seemed weird. maybe it's just me Sometimes I'm more like Luddite, so now four stars. I will say that it seems rather unfair to criticize this printer and the brothers' other printers as being far-fetched. this paper try a little flimsy. may be. but with proper treatment there should be no problems. Also, it appears to be a well-built machine. I will add more comments as needed and hope to add a 4th star. I have to say that for the price it was a pleasant treat. Initially there was 169 in the basket but then it dropped to 139 and unlike some other printer brothers where delivery time can be several weeks I received this in a first class 2 day delivery. After 3 weeks I can say that I am quite satisfied with this printer. prints very well, b/w, color, quite quiet. doesn't seem to use much ink. Every time I print I have "paper jam" problems. There was just a paper jam. two others? I pulled out the paper drawer and lifted the lid. and then went back and printed the rest of the document. not a big deal but annoying. By the way, don't try to turn off the printer. it turns off when it likes it. and sometimes turns back on when I'm not even processing. never mind. Six months later I rate it 5 stars. This is an exceptional printer. not moody. it works. Random paper jam, usually able to do more than one thing when there is no paper jam. If not, just turn off your computer and restart it. no problem. I think my only problem is printing 4x6 photos. Sometimes I only print half of the photo paper. I admit I haven't really researched it so once again this is a really great find. and, boy, the ink pens!
