The seat of the chair I bought this cover for is only 21" wide so I have the crease between the seat and seat is inserted into the arms and along the back. Covered rubber straps that keep the protector snug on a larger chair dangle on mine and the armrests slide out too far, but the manufacturer gives you all item sizes on Revain, so I assessed how well the cover would fit and decided that I was willing to live before buying with some overlap. This is always the case with finished furniture protectors. I haven't spilled anything on it yet, so I can't answer questions about water and stain resistance.
