Review on 📞 Ooma Telo VoIP Home Phone Service: Affordable Landline Replacement with HD3 Handsets, Unlimited Calling, Answering Machine, and Robocall Blocking by Gelin Sepulveda

Use a standard cordless phone system instead of Ooma HD3 phones

I have been a long time user of an Ooma system and needed to replace my 8 year old Ooma Telo so I bought a newer three (3rd generation) Telo ) HD3 tubes together with one HD3 tube for a total of four (4) tubes. Right out of the box we had issues with call audio quality and some handsets didn't ring when a call came in. Since they are designed for two lines, neither you nor they have the option of switching off the 2nd line. If a second call comes in during a call, the other handsets will ring. When you answer the 2nd call, that handset appears to switch and stay on the 2nd line, so it doesn't ring when the call comes in on the main number until you switch the handset to line 1. Also because of the two lines, if your wife is on the phone and you want to join the call on another phone, you have to press a few keys to join the call. restart phone. This usually solves the problem, but after a few weeks they start behaving and I have to restart the phones. If that doesn't fix the problem, you'll be forced to restart Telo. Recently all four (4) phones started updating the software and just sat there not being updated. I contacted support who told me I had to restart Telo. Please note that Telo download time is approximately 5 minutes. Once the Telo rebooted, this was the only way to upgrade the HD3 and then place one at a time as close to the Telo as possible. As a side note, the phones were "waiting for an update" the whole time and during the Telo reboot your phone system was down. As far as I can see you have no control over when the software needs to be updated. As I said, I'm a longtime Ooma customer and since you only need to restart Telo every once in a while, I agree with the service and the Body's load time (something they should fix) but until they do something to improve the sound quality improve , fix problems with software updates and give the user the option to disable the second line, I do not recommend HD3 phones. My wife keeps pushing me to replace the HD3 with a traditional cordless phone system.
