I'm from the Canon side. I went full SONY with the 7D and this lens is on par with Canon L lenses. The image quality is perfect for the a6000. It's 'just' a 200mm and 'just' an F4, but significantly smaller and lighter than the Canon 100-400 and cheaper than the 200mm F2.8, it's the perfect travel lens. Two A6000 cases, an E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS and this lens fit into a small carry-on along with a laptop and all accessories. I used to have a 7D with a 100-400 and another lens in my backpack. Now I can carry two a6000 with lenses on my shoulder and it feels less bulky. The quality of the lens is very high, with one silly exception: the sliders move too easily. If you have a lens dangling from your shoulder, just move the sliders randomly. It gets a little annoying after a while and seems like an obvious design oversight. I've had to get into the habit of checking the sliders almost every time I pick up the camera or find that AF has switched to MF and/or IS turned off. A star is deducted. The zoom and focus rings are silky smooth. Image stabilization works well, no problem shooting flying birds or planes at 200mm. Unlike my old Canon 100-400L, this zoom lens is entirely internal, the lens doesn't stretch out when you zoom in and it doesn't roll, yay! I'm not a pixel artist. I'm just a hobbyist trying to find a balance between cost, portability and image quality on long hikes. From what I can tell this lens produces amazing images with my a6000 that are better than what my 100-400L 7D could do without the extra 200mm but without the bulk. Combined with the fast focus of the a6000, this lens is incredibly easy to use. Attached images are not edited, just exported from Lightroom with default settings.
