Cheap DVD drive and seemed like a quick fix for burning downloaded music to CD. It came quickly, well packaged. It just doesn't work. Tried with a USB 3.0 hub first. The light on the hard drive is on, but pressing the button does nothing. After several presses, the light went out. Disconnecting and reconnecting started it again, but it just disconnected again. Then I tried connecting directly to the USB port on the Surface Pro. No adapter or anything like that, just a direct connection. Same result. I've tried Windows Media Player and PowerDVD. The hard drive is not recognized. I checked the windows drivers, everything seems to be up to date. It looks like the drive shows up in the hardware list. Doesn't make any noise, doesn't spin, can't open the drive. If you pick it up and move it in a circle, the light will go out and you will have to unplug or plug it back in. If you're right-handed and have a laptop with USB ports on the right, you'll need to find a place for the drive if you're using a mouse. I went ahead and ordered an LG for a little more money. having to drop it off at a UPS store, especially when there is a truck that can pick it up with a delivery time of almost a day.
