We ordered size 7 for my six year old son. The color is "dark denim" but they definitely don't look like denim. They definitely look like nylon. They are navy blue with red stitching, red pull tabs on the cargo pockets, and a red zipper closure on the back. The shade of red is ok but I would prefer it to be the same color as the shorts. The material of the shorts is stretchy, almost like the material of a bathing suit. The adjustable waistband is great as they were a bit too big for my son. The patch pockets are great for carrying your LEGO figures and other items that 6-year-old boys carry.
