What is this dimension?

I am 5 (5 to 6 small) and 3 (3) years old. I bought the small/medium size and both of my kids found them much larger than the advertised size (I was able to adjust them almost comfortably). We only get a snow or two a year so they still work as intended, but if I had bought them for months of use I would send them back. My kids can still wear them, wiggle their fingers and since we use a double glove with fingerless gloves they fit well. I just wish the measurements were more accurate.
