Review on πŸ”Š Black Yamaha NS-555 3-Way Tower Speaker with Bass Reflex (Each) by Jihu Gim ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

There are several shortcomings, but, it corresponds to the norm.

We got it by accident about 7 years ago, along with a Yamaha receiver of the sixth hundred and a DVD player of the same company. At first I was glad, I thought I would give up the Corvettes, these are much prettier in appearance, they stood side by side for several days, switched periodically. Refused. From Yamaha. I put my father in the room, there is a Yamaha two-channel receiver from the early 80s, he listens to the radio on it. (By the way, comments from people who evaluate the "sound quality" from a multi-channel receiver of "initial" versions are incredibly delivering. I have a sixth hundred, a little better, but I refuse to consider it sound, there the signal passes through a dozen chips, how many semiconductors in each one can only guess (a lot), "virtual" adjustments and all that. This is for cinema and nothing else. IMHO. For music, I have a CA-810 (and others from that series) of the 78th year. Another thing.) In general, they stood there, until I accidentally heard that one channel lost treble. It turned out to be a head. New 3 thousand on AVITO. Considering that the whole set was bought for 10 (naturally until 2022), I somehow did not want to spend money. Dismantled the head, the winding is whole. The problem was in connecting the leads going to the terminals and the leads of the winding itself. The connection is simply by "clamping" one wire to another and covering it with black "snot". And BOTH connections died at once. Somehow split, bent, soldered. Works. But done absolutely ugly, hot melt hangs snot, cheap plastic painted "chrome". Inside, the case is made of thin MDF plates, the joints, at least with a sealant, went through - horseradish, bars in the joints as thick as a little finger, the front panel is about the same. A molded piece of foam rubber is thrust into the woofer section. True, the wires are at least quite thick inside, the cross saw only from the edge, the coil was "in the air" (as it turned out, the other two are on ferrite, electrolytic capacitors in the filter :( ). In general, Microlab (also dismantled) inside is no worse. We are coming to a situation where "brand" means very little, it seems. :(

Pros
  • Appearance (if you do not look inside) is very decent, varnishing (the same "black piano", although they say that this is a film - but neatly anyway) - too. They sound basically according to their price and dimensions. Good name (It's nicer to look at the inscription "Yamaha" than at some Chinese "brand", although the insides may not differ much)
Cons
  • Inside, the construct is not far from any "microlabs" and the like. The sound . well, acceptable, you should not expect any "miracles" from consumer goods.
