Agree with other commenters I would add a few considerations on this product: 1. If you are using a smaller diameter wire a piece of heat shrink tubing over the insulator will increase the diameter and fill the power cord clamp and also add a strain relief/ Add bend.2. Yes, the wire could be fixed better here. If you solder it, pay attention to how it fits back into the connector, heat the other end to prevent the safety plastic tip from melting, use a good flux and ram the heat, it will stick. I think a thin shim of copper might be the best way to do this. Also, you don't have to solder it if you make a decent wrap. When the plastic cover is in place, it appears to be securely attached. I was able to get 5A @ 12VDC through the connector with no problem.
