Installed these in the overhead dome lights of a Ford Transit Ambulance for work. The "map light” is way too bright and only illuminates from dash level down, and we never use our map books anyway thanks to GPS. The switch-activated dome lights illuminate everything well, but even the dim incandescent white light makes it difficult to see anything outside the cabin at night. Naturally, this is not preferred when navigating through heavy traffic or down country roads at night on the way to or from an emergency. I found these bulbs to replace the OEM Toshiba incandescent bulbs (see picture) with red light for night driving. They were a direct fit. They cast plenty of light and the red color doesn’t interfere with your vision. Just don’t tell my shop manager that I messed with "his” truck.
