These bits work well for gouging but when I bought them it said 'hardfacing'. Obviously you can't use a reaming bit with a bearing on the bottom, but with the description of how to use it and the picture showing the use of a reaming bit I figured you could remove the bearing and then use CHISEL. a bit like that. Well, with a hex wrench it was easy enough to remove the bearing on the bottom, unfortunately the metal on the bottom of the bit itself sticks out too far (below the cutting face) to be used for filing. I used one to cut a 3/8" groove and it worked like a charm.
