This is a decent camera - full disclosure: I'm very picky and have sent back several other cameras before keeping this one. The image quality on the LCD is very good; the actual image on the computer is less glossy, but for $150 I can't complain. I'm used to DSLRs and nothing beats the image quality of a larger sensor with better lenses. The Sony H55 takes very good pictures with accurate exposure. I take very few flash photos and don't like to shoot in dark environments as the flash usually ruins the scene so I can't comment on how the flash works. I like to use panorama stitching for an extremely wide viewing angle - it allows for very fast rendering and is easy to use. Sony support told me over the phone that "Some SD cards cannot be used with this camera" when I called and reported a read error on two brand new 8GB Sandisk SD cards that I bought specifically for this purpose . I had to do without the 4 GB card. I think they really want you to use their proprietary memory cards. HD video is clean, although the multi-cable USB interface is too bulky to pack with the camera unless you bring a large bag. The audio is what you would expect from a small microphone on the side of the camera. I use this camera for ebay seller pics and pictures. All in all, Sony has done a good job with this camera and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a basic no-flash outdoor/indoor camera.
