Standard bed mattress fits perfectly! Someone wrote here that they can't place it, if you place it evenly then it will fit. Eventually an edge wouldn't go in, but you just need to lift the side that's already there so it's more even and tight. The assembly took some time. The floor is basically a tarp, no slats, but I was able to lay down with my son and together he weighed about 192 pounds and I didn't feel like it was going to pop and break. The hardest part was getting the frame into the bottom of the tarp in the correct order, but if you follow the directions to the "T" you should be able to do it. It also took some effort to fit the side moldings into the roof rails as a final step, but it can't be done. The end result is beautiful and strong. It may have taken about an hour but that's because I had to back off as at one point I didn't follow the instructions and turned the screw outwards instead of inwards. Not very difficult but I'm used to assembling furniture so those who can't need help.
