Great little MFP for the money but not a speed demon

My old Canon MFP is dead. It was old enough that it didn't have Wi-Fi or Blue Tooth connectivity for my iPad or iPhone, so I figured I'd need a new MFP anyway. The old Canon MP530 has had its day and the last sound I heard from it as it breathed its last was a loud gliding sound! I've tried to fix it to no avail, but something inside must have broken. My new Canon MX452 MFP arrived today and I hooked it up in minutes following the quick start and easy setup instructions on the CD. Once I connected using the option to use the included USB cable, I found that I actually needed to set up the configuration for wireless. I used USB because I figured I could later use both WiFi and a USB connection to print from the iPhone and iPad. What I found was impossible. I then went into the menu settings with the software enabled, disconnected the USB and rebooted after the printer was automatically found on the network with the Canon printer. With smart software it was a simple matter. I didn't even have to enter the network password and the Canon printer found my password in my iMac keychain. Carefully! The included software for multifunctional processes is very extensive, so you need to understand all the functions. However, I think this is a great printer for the money. It's not a speed daemon as my name suggests, but I only use an inkjet printer for printing. Most of my print jobs are with a Dell Laser. I like that the Canon MX452 is primarily used for scanning, faxing and light color work. Color ink cartridges are always quite expensive. This printer only uses two, but I'm not sure if that's an advantage or not. The time will show.

Pros
  • Looking forward to it
