Unlike many reviewers I found the diverter to work fine. As colonoscopy prep, my problem was instead with the narrower nozzle, which is poorly designed. The edge of the nozzle hole is sharp. The curve of the side at the tip is not enough to prevent scraping. I thought if water comes out of the nozzle during insertion, a thin layer of water would separate the sharp edge from the skin, but I was wrong. Threw mine away and am looking for a replacement attachment to avoid buying another full kit.
