My 5 bikes did not fit. Must be hung on studs which are hard to find. I spent $50 bucks on quality stud finder. Do not attach to dry wall using toggle bolts they will not hold. Access to studs determines location. The unit is 48 inches wide plan accordingly. Luckily I know how to weld. I added 6 inches to both ends. Now it holds 5 bikes. I solved the stud placement problem by fashioning a 6 foot 3/4 inch board and centering it across 4 studs. This gave me more leeway to attach the bar. Good Luck
