I bought this for a cat with some health issues and probably arthritis. I put it on my bed in the corner. I turn it on in the evening and my cat, who doesn't usually bother me, lounges on it. She likes it very much. The temperature settings are good and the timer is pretty good. It jumps from 2 hours to 4 and then 8. I'd like one in the 5 or 6 range. You'll need to read elsewhere to find out what temperature is right for your type of pet. My biggest criticism is the buttons. They require pressure on the bodies. It is impossible to find spots in the dark. There is no backlight in these places and the haptics are smooth. It seems safe enough, but who knows. The power cord is closed. A large dog could easily chew through, but I think she'd do it with household twine if she wanted to.
