Review on πŸ”§ Precision Alignment Indicator for Calibrating Machinery Presses by Gary Stringfield

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Inaccurate accuracy, notch uncertainty, surface scratches

This pickup is better than the ITool, but not by much. Cannot use this product for the following reasons: It uses side and bottom screws to adjust the height and width of the bevel, but the bottom screws remove the finish on the DWE7491RS table saw that I use when sliding along the track. You can adjust it a little tight, but the screws loosen quickly and you get a little play. Finally, and probably most importantly, the dial gauge it contains is rubbish. I marked the spot on the saw with a perm marker to determine the distance from the angle cut. Measure it on one side, move it and get the measurement of the other side, then move it back and it's totally different. Not just 1 or 2mm, but around 2-5mm almost every time. I've read reviews about making sure it doesn't move or crowd when measuring and have tried my best, but it's still giving me almost random readings. This tool, IMO, can work on a solid metal surface that can't be scratched, and probably NOT a T-Nut if you used a different dial indicator.

Pros
  • Check, measure and inspect
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks
