Review on ASUS WS C246M PRO: Advanced LGA1151 ECC DDR4 M.2 C246 Server Workstation Micro ATX Motherboard for 8th Gen Intel Core CPUs by Juan Crane

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Does not support AMT, does not support out-of-band remote management

Does not support AMT, does not support out-of-band remote management. There are ASUS/ASRock C246M boards that support remote management, but they use ASPEED chipset instead of Intel AMT. ASPEED chipset problem, the graphics controller will also use the ASPEED chipset instead of the CPU's iGPU, in other words, if you want to run a headless Plex server with iGPU hardware acceleration support and external remote control support, you should consider ASUS, ASRock and Supermicro.

Pros
  • Designed for 8th Gen Intel Core and Intel Xeon E-Series processors with LGA1151 socket with dual M.2 sockets, front USB 3.1 Gen2 Port, dual Intel Gigabit LAN sockets, supports ECC DDR4
Cons
  • poorly designed
