Luckily I bought this when it was the same price as the $329 Micro Center. I went back to get another one and on August 21st 2020 it was closer to $400 and would have been worth buying 3900x instead, going to 3800x for $329 would be a kick in the face. I'm not sure why prices aren't consistently competitive with Micro Center. Although the processor can be said that it is excellent. Very future oriented and if you look at the performance over the years it is very similar to what you would expect from a peak performance. Take Intel for example: year after year we got more streams on 10700k and 10900k which is good but the speed was only around 100MHz. While last year's offer is still very relevant and is a great buy. If you're just a gamer, the 3600, 3600x, and 3600xt are fine. If you're a little afraid to upgrade to just 6 cores and tests show it hangs with more than 8 cores, the 3700x is fine, but if you're creative and busy 8 cores is great, but that's about it it for the current price I would consider 3900x in the $400-429 range.
