Lumpy/Smelly/Unpeeled

Bought this to re-stuff my daughter's favorite bear for her birthday. First, it's beautiful. But that's where the good news ends. Immediately after opening the package I noticed a strange smell that can be normal for new cotton and it was full of junk. I stuffed the bear with a stuffed animal and decided to wash it to get rid of the smell. Well all it did was thicken and get very heavy. I may have stuffed it a bit, but even after several drying cycles it remains clumpy. I even put shoes and drying balls in the dryer to break it up. Should be polyester. I should also add that the bear is the size of a queen's pillow and I used a bag of stuffing. Update: I've been tumble drying this bear on and off since 3am and it's 2pm now and the cotton is still damp and it still smells funny and it's still lumpy. If I had known it was like this I would not have bought it.
