I bought two 26 ounce bowls to use in my chicken coop for shredded oyster shells and sand. The main pen, where I keep food and water, is covered with a tarpaulin. The girls aren't ready for mashed oyster shells, so I haven't put them on the runner yet. I considered using automatic feeders but they always throw whatever is in the bowl on the floor. Since they're hanging from wires in the runner, I hope they get used and not strewn all over the floor. I may need to make small adjustments to keep them working and stable but I really like the fact that the bowl comes out of the mount for cleaning and refilling and I can place it level for easy access but this reduces the risk of that spill them everywhere. ready for crushed oyster shells, but I put grain mix in one of the shells. It hangs nicely from a horizontal wire as you walk. I can just scatter sand for them and leave an extra bowl for treats or in case something happens to the bowl I use for the oyster shells. of which for the oyster shell. I'm happy with that.
