Float switch shuts off water once the absorption tray is half full, leaving the absorption filter quite dry in some places on the absorption filter, resulting in little moisture being produced. The water in the sump is cooled, which also contributes to poor indoor humidity. A week ago in Michigan it was 20 degrees and the relative humidity (RH) was 26%. Not high enough to avoid static electricity, dry hands and throat. I would leave the fan on at the thermostat to run the fan all the time thinking that would help, but again maybe just a 1-2% relative humidity increase. What helped me solve the problem much better was to remove the float switch from the humidifier and connect it directly to the solenoid valve. I turned off the hot water supply to conserve water from the humidifier drain (I think the instructions say not to turn it off, but I did anyway). Since then, the humidity has increased slightly. 7-12%. Much better now that the absorbent filter is constantly soaked in hot water! Only 4-6 drops per second flow into the sewage system. Now it works fine.
