There were five detectors in the box, five mounting rings/brackets that attach to the wall with three screws (included). Everything was nicely packed with foam dividers, each in its own plastic bag. Instructions were easy and installation was a breeze. I tested each device by clicking the test button following the documentation. Tested with real smoke and all sensors worked properly with a loud shrill alarm. I waited about a week before installing them in five spots on the ceiling because I wanted to see if any of them would signal a fall. Fall alarms are not heard. I bought them to replace the old wired ones. The old ones were over 20 years old and I changed the batteries every six months. Instead of changing the batteries I will test them every six months. I understand very well that unlike wired ones, when one works, everyone works, they work individually, and I believe their location. in the house and how loud they are will wake us up. The green LED flashes once per minute and it is not a bright light. Overall I'm happy with the purchase and hope it's never tested on real fire or carbon monoxide poisoning.
