We've had this machine for about 3 months now and it's basically the only way to get ice as our Samsung fridge's ice maker is rubbish. We always set it for 'big' ice and despite what I've read it takes a little longer to get big ice cubes. About 20 minutes after launch, the first baths will be produced, but they will be small and thin. After about 30 minutes you will start noticing large and thick balls of ice cream. I think there is a common misconception about this and all other ice machines. They are not freezers. They only make ice cream. Once your ice cream is ready and in the bowl, it will slowly begin to melt. It is not designed to hold ice all day. Finally, the ice in the tray melts, flows into the water tank, and then turns back into ice cubes. Which is good for me. In fact, I sometimes turn off the machine at night with a full ice tray, and in the morning there's still plenty of ice left that hasn't melted, enough to make a large mug. As long as the thing reliably pumps out ice, I'm happy.
