Review on πŸ”Œ Mirror Mount Radar Radar Mount + Power Cord with Direct Wiring + Mini Fuse Tap Escort IX EX Max360C (3001407) by Josh Parson

A reliable alternative to Blendmount.

Bought this kit (straight cable and bracket) for my old truck which I drive more and more and good cars stay in the garage. Although I have Blendmount installed in my car, I wanted an inexpensive solution to transporting the Escort Mac 360c between cars rather than buying another $600 detector. Having owned a blend mount for a few years I can definitely say it's a safer mount than this, but not by much. The disadvantage of the Blendmount is that it is rigid and cannot be adjusted in the field, requiring multiple Allen keys to make even the smallest adjustment. This mount uses a wing nut adjustment and you can play with it as much as you like and adjust it on the fly. You will need good grip strength to ensure the wing nuts are fully tightened to avoid loosening the hinges. The wiring harness was very well thought out and included a couple of clips, fuse connectors and a wire long enough to allow some slack after the ii was installed in the Chevy. Avalanche, right next to the rearview mirror. The downside to these "hard" mounts, for both handpiece and blendmount, is that a large, heavy radar detector like the Valentine One or Escort Max 360c will inevitably "hop" a bit as you drive down the road. The problem is exacerbated when driving on rough roads or completely off the pavement, but for most highway and city driving this isn't a problem. Was it worth $41? You bet. The Blendmount was $120 and did not include a direct connect kit. It's almost as good, 1/3 the price and comes with everything you need. That is a lot.
