Review on Protect Your Outdoor Umbrella With Covermates Weather Resistant Patio Cover In Charcoal by Adrian Smart

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nicely constructed; good materials & design.

I purchased this umbrella cover to use with an "11 ft solar offset umbrella" from the big orange home improvement depot. The umbrella isn't quite as long as this cover, so there is a few inches of extra material at the bottom that sits crumpled against the umbrella's base. However, when stowed, the umbrella has a curved banana-like profile and also has a pie plate-sized solar panel near the top, which combined require all the width/circumference this cover offers. And from that standpoint, it fits very, very well.Just a note that I ended up ordering my cover from the seller's web site, because there they offer stackable patio chair covers that revain doesn't list. On the seller's website, a bit more detail is provided with respect to the three material choices this umbrella is offered in, with the khaki being the mid-range of the three. The khaki material is relatively light weight, approximately the feel of a mid-weight canvas, and folds easily for storing out of the way when the umbrella is in use. What it *isn't* is a klunky, hard to fold heavy PVC type covering, nor is it a lightweight rip stop-like fabric as used with the covers I've seen some umbrellas ship with. The included pole for hanging and removing the cover consists of four sections of lightweight PVC pipe, joined together with union fittings. While it's a help, even at 6 feet tall I had to reach a bit to get the cover installed. I'll likely ditch the included PVC and just use a solid, slightly longer length of 1/2" or 3/4" PVC.The zipper on this cover is great: it's the heavy plastic type with the extra big teeth, so it's easy to zip, won't get caught up in the fabric like some smaller zips do, and looks to be very durable for something that will spend its life exposed to the elements. All in all, a great cover, well worth the price premium. I'm so happy with mine, I'm going to pick up another to replace my dad's worn cover for his conventional center-stand umbrella.

Pros
  • Terrific quality. Love that it will save the life of our umbrella. Just what we were looking for....
Cons
  • It may not come with clear instructions for installation
