Having been in the broadcast industry for over 20 years and using mics like the RE20 and Shure sm7b, I had my doubts about the much cheaper Rode Procaster. But after the purchase, these doubts immediately disappeared. This thing is really amazing. Does it look like Neumann? Of course not. And that's not his goal. It's designed specifically for the voice, and regardless of the specs you may have seen, it's really great. Ultra clear sound, nice tight bass and just enough closeness when you're looking for it. After trying mic after mic after mic, I found the Procaster to be perfect for my voice. The quality and build make it perfect for podcasts and voiceovers (it's all about Podmic, by the way). I run it through the Presonus Studio channel, no compression, no EQ and a little bump in the tube drive. The sound of this microphone is incredible.
