I only bought these pulleys to attach to the legs of two of my Life Fitness/Hammer Strength weight racks. I have a full set of professional dumbbells (now very rusty after 10 months of storage) ranging from 5lbs to 100lbs. I just bought a new house and until I build a new 20" x 30" gym I'll be using the garage. With that in mind, my wife still wants to be able to use the garage to park her car when it snows, so I had to make as much of my weightlifting gear as mobile/portable as possible. Each of my dumbbell racks weighs 200 pounds unloaded. The lighter rack weighs 1,000 pounds with dumbbells, while the heavier rack weighs 1,500 pounds with dumbbells. I built blocks for all the 8 foot racks out of 2-3/4" x 3-5/8" x 6" maple plywood that I laminated together with glue and screws. Then I drilled holes for all 4 screws ( 5/16" x 2-1/2"") and drilled 2 large holes for the barbell stand leg bolts (7/16" x 3"). . I used 3-pin T-nuts to fasten the pulleys to attach to the blocks with 5/16" screws. It worked great. I installed the blocks and casters on the legs of the shelves before getting them from storage. It made it a lot easier to get them to my house from camp. Don't get me wrong, the 1500-pound dumbbell rack isn't easy to move, but it's relative and it moves. I said it's relative because compared to how easily the rack could move in front of the rollers on the rack legs, it's day and night. The struts stay in place when I apply the brake. Bearings are very smooth and all rollers spin as they should. Overall I am VERY happy with these rollers and can confirm they can handle AT LEAST 1500lbs. That being said, I'm sure her weight estimate of 1,800 pounds is correct. You won't find a more affordable, higher quality, more durable reel. My only minor complaint is that the caster brakes don't engage at the perfect 90 degrees. , 180 degree, 270 degree and 360 degree intervals (perfectly parallel and perpendicular to the mounting plate). Although this is not a big problem at all. I am fully aware that this is more of an issue with my OCD. Let's just say this 'issue' is not enough for me to change my 5 star rating. BUY IT - YOU WILL BE HAPPY!
