This fan has 3 speeds on the included remote control and can be used seasonally by pulling or pushing the airflow up or down, whichever switch you choose located at the top of the fan, so when you're in ins. Now it is important to remember that this is a WARM colored light (3000) and cannot be exchanged for another light or bulb/LED. Another consideration when purchasing a fan with built-in lights like this is whether or not you are happy with each color light that emits. All of our other lights in my house (we're open) emit cool white "white light," so while this one still works well, I really want it to be a cooler white LED light to match what we have already have . So I turn off our whiter light when we have the fan light on, as having two different light colors next to each other will make the fan light yellow/bad, IMHO. You may also need a longer bottom shaft when installing on a high or sloping ceiling. Some fans come with two lengths of bottom rod, this one is only 4/2 inch in length. So if you need a longer one, be sure to order it.
