I REALLY wanted them to work

As I said above I had high hopes for these devices. I've been looking for a replacement for my JK Wrangler's LED headlights for a couple of weeks and decided to give them a try after reading the reviews. I received them on time and was immediately delighted when I opened the box. I liked the new look of the "JL" from the photos on the website and it is indeed accurate. Then I was more impressed when I took it. Their weight makes you feel like you finally invested a little more money in material and quality compared to other brands. Now the back. As stated by some reviews they would not turn on, toggle on and off. Tail covers are bulkier than factory halogen units. The lantern didn't sit properly in the bucket so I tightened the rings snugly but not fully. It was dark and I was curious to see what the light on the street would look like. I started the engine and drove down the street. I turned on the low beams and was amazed at how much more light they put out than regular halogen bulbs. Bright white light and no flicker. But here the second problem arose. As soon as I turned on the brightness, a light came on immediately. Another lingered a few seconds and caught fire. I drove with the lights on for about 5 minutes until the late one went out. I switched back to low frequencies, then to high frequencies several times. A high beam came on each time, but the delay grew longer and longer. After about 15 minutes the high beams wouldn't come on at all. The other light worked great the whole time. I turned on the light to check my wiring. The bad light didn't work on the other side either. So this set is back today. After reading other LED headlight failure stories, I thought that aftermarket LED headlight technology might not be quite ready for prime time. I'm going back to halogens for now, but will be mounting a 20" LED bar on the bumper. Still a bright light, but I don't have to limp home with one (or both) headlights that I can't just replace a bulb if the lightbar doesn't work.
