I bought these as a spare for use during the holidays as I suspected my original probe would not last long. I recently used a new probe and got overcooked results. So I tested both of them in boiling water along with two other thermometers: 1) a candy thermometer 2) an instant-read digital thermometer. One of the tested thermal logs is error-free, the second recorded a temperature 5 degrees lower at boiling and a few degrees lower at other temperatures. I had to test them before the return period ended. I have updated the rating. They just replaced the sensors based on reading my review. it is very good.
